Team FINISHERS 7 vs. Team UNFINISHED BUSINESS 4 Friday, November 18, 2011
Down to the final game to decide the series (as it should be) as both teams wanted it badly, so bad in fact that Team Finisher captain Peter Choi graciously opted out to keep his cold germs away and keep a healthy lineup, which included four subs on that side... while Team UB fielded a fully intact original 10-man roster. Was a tight game early on as both teams had chances, but the goalies were solid and Team UB were unable to capitalize on their advantaged share of PP time (with surprisingly no penalty call drama tonight)... however, Team Finishers were able to keep a methodical pace and chip in goals consistently as the time progressed, to the point where they had a healthy 7-1 lead late in the game and the three unanswered goals from the opposition were not enough to put the game in doubt... so Team Finishers ice the hard-fought (and at times, controversial) series at last.
With a special extended ice time (by 15 min.), there was only the post-series shootout (and winning beverages) to be settled and it quickly became a goalie duel as seemingly no one could score... and apart from Norm Chan as the lone marker for his side, it was the Chan brothers (Gord and Ray) both capitalizing for their team to soften the blow of the series just lost with a sweet shootout victory and a cool refreshing Jones soda for their mates.
