Team MDHL 7 vs. Team Ringers 5 (EN) Friday, February 24, 2012
Arguably the game-of-the-season if you factor in a rare return to exhibition action for the MDHL and 3-forward-line up-tempo action. Special thanks to double-agent Albert Chang who resurrected (and played for) the opposition, Team Ringers, sporting more than a few familiar faces and some MDHL alumni in their own right.
Both teams had jump and were flying from the get-go… with early momentum to the Ringers as they built a 2-0 lead making the MDHL run a Chinese fire drill in their own end for a few plays there. Team MDHL needed a bit of time to gel but finally got on the scoresheet and promptly built their own momentum, taking the lead but trading chances at both ends.
All three MDHL forward lines contributed admirably on the scoresheet and this likely made the difference hanging onto a slim 2-goal lead late in the game. Nixon Tham replied for the Ringers to pull within one, but a late game goalie pull didn't pay dividends as Eric Lun iced the insurance from his own end of the rink.
All and all a fun, clean and stellar outing from both sides, and hopefully we look to do this again in the near future!
