SPRING 2012/13 SERIES: MDHL GAME #4 REVIEW

Team WHITE 4 vs. Team DARK 4
Friday, April 5, 2013

Well that was exciting. A ridiculously low scoring affair tonight with both goalies in the zone, and at least one side kicking themselves for not having notched a goal after 60 or so minutes of play and looking up at a 3-0 hole on the scoreboard... but persistence pays off as Team White chipped away against the seemingly unbeatable rookie debut of goalie, Raymond Chow (who is also an upstanding Atom hockey manager to boot). Team Dark were flying all night but yet found their lead evaporate to 3-3 making it a game again and for a few moments, it looked like Jason Lai might play GWG hero with a breakaway to go up 4-3 with just 3 minutes left. Alas, special teams played a role with a late penalty by Orson Low, leaving Team Dark salavating on a 6-4 PP (sans goalie) and eventually found the back of the net with just seconds left on the clock to salvage a tie and dodge the shame that comes with blowing a 3-0 lead. The league now bids a fond farewell to Jason Chang who finishes his season campaign with the MDHL as he returns to his ball hockey league and remains in the sub ranks.

MDHL STARS OF THE GAME
  Raymond Chow
An almost-shutout if you count the first 60 minutes for his rookie debut.
  Yvon Beaudoin
Another great rookie debut and a fine demonstration of what real skating looks like.
  Albert Chang
Saves his team much grief by salvaging the tying goal in the waning moments.
