SPRING 2012/13 SERIES: MDHL GAME #10 REVIEW

Team DARK 5 vs. Team WHITE 2
Friday, May 24, 2013

Gurrrcckack... but be a good description of the sound of Team White choking after collapsing in the final game of the series... with both the series clincher in hand, and some sweet tasting Gatorade at their lips, both eluded them as their opposition Team Dark, came storming out with desperate (yet precise) hockey to win the series, get the drinks, and take home the prom queen to boot. Perhaps the TSN turning point was before the puck was dropped, whence the 5-min warmup turned into far less than that with nearly everyone running late, and a shortened duration on tap... but the effects seems to hit Team White hardest with many a missed pass, bobbled puck, or generally off play on this night...

Nonetheless, credit Team Dark, who not only wore down their opponents with tight checking, but also pounced on their scoring chances to send the series into sudden-death-shootout, and they salted the deal there too, winning 4-2 where Team White could not solve already-hot Wayland Young and hence, end upa at the BP after party with their tails between their legs.

However, it was at least some free food, beer, and nice looking waitresses that was consolation for all to wind up the year. Have a great summer for those now-departing players who start their off-season early (missing the final 3-game set): Orson Low, Norm Chan, Kyle Uno, Albert Chang, Ray Yee and Calvin Cheng.

MDHL STARS OF THE GAME
  Carlos Alves
Rookie captain showed the way, even if he forgot his contact lenses and had to toil with foggy spectacles.
  Wayland Young
More of the usual, strong play in the game, and even stronger play in the shootout.
  Peter Choi
Momentum swinging wraparound goal to help his side to victory.
