 SPRING 2013 MINI-SERIES: MDHL GAME #2 REVIEW

Team WHITE 9 vs. Team DARK 5
Friday, June 7, 2013

(Presenting a special writing stint by Eric Lun and Jackson Chiu...)

Team Dark showed up with its full regular lineup while Team White had to mix and match its lines to accommodate 4 subs, including goalie Gino Cutri coming in for regular goalie Ray Chow (who subbed in as a player). Team White jumps to an early 3-0 lead, only to see it tied 5-5 mid-game as Team Dark clawed back. Team Dark's gritty efforts included an uncontroversial goal by Kent (there were witnesses this time), a Datsyuk slo-mo weave goal by Dharmesh Dass, and a top corner zipper by Ray Chan. Despite the Dark rally, Team White scored a quick leading goal and never looked back adding 3 more, including a Peter Choi upper cut roofer. The White victory was an all-team effort but clearly led by the power mix line of Mandip (high-5 effort), sub Jim Chan (2 goals) and sub Robert Watson. The game would have been much closer had it not been for sub goalie Gino Cutri who kept making some clutch saves on a few odd man breaks.

MDHL STARS OF THE GAME
  Mandip Khunkhun
Unstoppable 5-goal scoring machine, unfazed even after taking puck in the throat.
  John Janetka
Solid defense and excellent rushes up ice.
  KC Cheung
Skated hard, chased loose pucks to frustrate the opposition.
