FALL 2013 SERIES: MDHL GAME #8 REVIEW

Team WORLD 7 vs. Team WINDERMERE 5
Friday, November 22, 2013

Epic win, or epic collapse? Depends on your vantage, as a rare and strange game was scheduled back at our old haunt known as Kerrisdale. Four players were the unfortunate recipients of freak injuries meeting boards and ice on different occasions, perhaps in small part due to the unfamiliar (and ghetto-like) conditions of the rink. Nonetheless, it was a notable game with Team Windermere having stormed out to a powerful 5-0 lead by midway, but a goalie change and renewed energy resulted in a quick 3-goal turnaround by Team World and suddenly it was game on. Latter team actually ran a powerplay that looked (bizarrely) like a powerplay and connected 2-for-3 on the evening which helped matters and capped off the game with an empty netter leaving Team Windermere stunned in the process. Just two games left in the series and the Windermere boys need to regroup and run the table... can they do it?

MDHL STARS OF THE GAME
  Albert Chang
Another display of sweet finish with that sick backhander.
  Mandip Khunkhun
His two goal outburst was the highlight performance on his side.
  Bruno Minici
Play was okay on the ice, but more notably, sets the bar ridiculously high for post-game drink hosting.
  Wayland Young
Only in the MDHL can you post a shutout having played for both sides in the same game.
