WINTER 2013/14 SERIES: MDHL GAME #8 REVIEW

Team WHITE 9 vs. Team DARK 5
Friday, February 28, 2014

Well that was a ring-a-ding-dong-dandy of a game, only to be mired in a dark cloud of injury as our own GM, Frank Riccardi gets the short end of an ankle break with a fierce back-check and tangle of big bodies at the end boards not ending up well. Talk about a blow to the team, let alone a blow to his chances of ballroom dancing in the near future as weekend surgery (for fractures, torn ligaments and a metal plate) were all on tap. Now that he is resting at home comfortably, he and his team mates can lament the loss as Team White rolled some quick shifts and high-octane offense to avenge their own drubbing from the week prior. Four players had two or more goals on both sides, so hot hands were on display, but when the dust settled (with just one lonely penalty) in this uptempo affair, the series finds itself all tied up yet again. The league wishes Frank a speedy (and pain-free) recovery but in the meantime we (ironically) have an opening for dedicated scorekeeper, DJ and towel boy. Go figure.

MDHL STARS OF THE GAME
  Albert Chang
Hat trick and the best 2-way player on the ice all night.
  John Janetka
A howitzer one timer from the blueline that would make Shea Weber proud.
  Dharm Dass
Momentum starting 2-goals for his side but could not turn the trick by the end.
