After some wrench-turning computer and flatscreen off-season maintenance on the trusty table, MDPL season 7 kicked off with Girl Guide Cookie sale night. Thanks to everyone for their support and 11 boxes were sold in return for show-em chips and a sugar high... and none higher tonight than Ian Chang, he of the poker veteranship and partial inspiration for the birth of this poker circuit... who bags the first victory of the season and utterly destroys his past season haul of seven whole dollars. Meanwhile, he does the rest of the table a favour by knocking off runner-up and no-one-has-ever-arrived-later entrant, Kris Hargreaves in a pre-arranged schedule mixup that saw him appear shortly after the food break. Surely had Kris whittled his way to victory, the masses would have raged and likely trashed the place. Nonetheless, it was a good opening night of action with some crazy rivers and AA holding up for all. Your loyal host was more than satisfied to take the 3rd place ITM finish after his lucky rockets helped him triple up and hang on. Meanwhile, last season's defending champ, Vince Fung also finishes in the ITM group with a measly $2 win, taking his own late fee off the table with some degree of smugness I imagine. Thanks to all for wine, food, and top-up contributions to the host. Good times and more to come no doubt.
