So a rare 11th game of a series is used as the much-needed rubber match between the two teams tonight... and looked like a dream start for Team Red with two solid subs in the lineup and a quick 2 goal lead on their first 2 shifts... but a bit too early to lean on a dreaded two-goal-lead and much hockey to be played... enough time for Team Dark to take their hands off the panic button and regroup with rolling lines and some dominant zone time... slowly but surely they broke through the defences and built up their own lead... powered by a momentum changing deflection-out-of-mid-air goal by assistant captain Riccardi... soon it was catch-up for Team Red and getting a late goal to close the gap to one was not enough... even with an entertaining goalie-pull situation to keep things interesting. Perhaps a small measure of satisfaction was redeemed as Team Red rallied to win the drink-deciding shootout (in rather convincing fashion) so both teams had some congratulatory back slapping to do as we ring out the year.
