After umpteen events and many a bottle of wine enjoyed here, the MDPL held an inaugural wine tasting competition before the main event with 7 cultured candidates opening 6 bottles of their bestest wine to compare and contrast in a blind taste test... which whittled down to a heads-up showdown where J-Lau prevailed on a tie-break and won his buy-in while all others enjoyed their complimentary top-up and show-em chips. So with most of us half-corked on wine, some poker ensued and your loyal host donated more than his fair share of cash and was rewarded with loser-of-the-evening honours for his efforts and will be haunted by a 2-3 vs. his 9-9 for a while yet... meanwhile the wine continued to flow and the players duked it out royally with alumnus Eric Lau making his debut this season in fine fashion by taking first place and keeping last series champ Vince Fung at bay with a runner-up finish. Jackie Lushao continues his respectable ITM finiishing streak collecting cash in his second straight event... while everyone else basically filled up on sushi and wine for the evening.
