2003 SUMMER SERIES: GAME #5 REVIEW

Viet Cong Express 12 vs. Team Angle 8
VC Express roll on with two wins...

Friday, August 8, 2003

The Viet Cong Express manage to string together their second straight victory, albeit in a closer contest this time around... Shorthanded on each bench playing 9 vs. 8 it was an endurance test to boot... Both teams had good chances and the scores were close throughout, but VC utility D-man Albert Chang buried his breakaway chance to add some insurance and silence his critics on this night... as has been the case all series long, rookie Ernie Ma was an offensive force, but was somewhat slowed by a shot from his own point man... who was that joker?

Team Angle, playing with only eight on the bench were mixing and matching lines to no end and were still able to mount a decent effort, led by offensive keys and captains Allen Leung and Anthony Chang, while their own star rookie, Fraser Stampvincent was conspiciously absent from the lineup as a late game scratch... one of their subs, the wily vet Brian Kindrachuk again performed admirably but didn't have to down any opponents with his slapshot this time around, instead he faked the shot and went around that sissy defender for a goal... again, who was that joker?

Finally, with a VC mix-n-match lineup, assistant captain Chris Archibald had a fine effort from the blueline, chipping in with two assists flipping the puck towards the goal from the point... can Team Angle come back from this minor setback, or will the series finally be tied next week? Only time will tell...

MDHL 3 Stars:

3. Brian Kindrachuk... a complete package with skating, shooting, and puck sense.
2. Chris Archibald... selfless player, doing it from the blueline this time around.
1. Terry Wong... utility man, starting on D and finishing at C with two goals.
