Viet Cong Express 10 vs. Team Angle 9 Hard fought affair, but Team Angle comes up short... Friday, August 22, 2003
After last week's butt kicking, lop-sided, no-contest, any-other-phrase, write-off of a game, both teams were looking for a better game, and got it... with each bench playing nine aside the pace was intense and debuted a summer MIA appearance by Sherman Woo and the second outing for young stud Eric Cheng trying to rally Team Angle to a better result... once again (third week running?) Team Angle regulars Fraser Stampvincent and Jon Low are MIA from their teams... however, Sean Oye returned to the lineup for Team Angle and was sorely missed without his usual dominance on the ice...
The score stayed close and the action was fast but the VC Express held the lead throughout... thanks in part to goalie Ken Takeda with some stellar and some lucky play... other highlights included Stan Quan lighting the lamp on a sweet pass by none other than (second) cousin Eric Lowe... clearly a case of nepotism on that play... on the other side, Jeff Ho and his o-so-shiny Vector stick finally pay off with a goal after a mini-drought having seen his team score a bushelful from last game... with the nail biting on at 10-9 in the dying stages, a controversial (but correct) off-side is called to kill some of Team Angle's momentum and also allow the VC Express to hang on to the win... making four in a row and a series lead for the first time!
MDHL 3 Stars:
3. Brian Kindrachuk... stellar as usual in his sub role.
2. Eric Cheng... little pocket rocket shows the big boys how it's done.
1. Ernie Ma... still an offensive juggernaut to be reckoned with. |
