Team Moody Park 8 vs. Team MDHL 2 Friday, March 31, 2017
The MDHL resurrected their dormant exhibition schedule with a window in the spring break conclusion, putting their modest 5W 3L 1T exhibition record on the line against Michael Ng's Moody Park All-Stars... and well, chalk up a big L for the MDHLers. Even fielding a reasonably solid lineup up and down the roster with 3 forward lines, it was still the over the hill 40+ gang up against a collection of young (and older) gunners, two of which had their parents in the stands! One of them was 27 for the record, but still, looks like ID might be needed against future opposition as they had the pedal to the metal all game long keeping MDHL goalie Wayland Young busy between the pipes. Mieanwhile our three forward lines were not exaclty mounting much offence feeling fortunate to get limited shots at the familiar goalie (Ray Chow) at the other end. All told, it was scoreless for the first 20 minutes, then the goals steadily piiled up to a 5-0 deficit before Team MDHL could get a sniff of the red line at the other end to break any shutdown rumours. All told, a fun (if not painful) way to shake off spring break rust and get ready for the final MDHL series at RIC. Somebody go find the fountain of youth in the meantime. We need it.
