After seven seasons of being subjected to endless 80s & 90s rock/pop, the MDPL opened its soundtrack to guest DJs tonight, with tunes from Dharmesh, Norman, Steve, Quincy and J-Lai, all making contributions in the post-2000 era to give the evening a change-up on the poker vibe (and earn their Show-Em chips in the process). Perhaps it was a vibe that foretold conservative play as the night yielded zero re-buys and the fewest add-ons of the season (if not the series), amounting to the smallest pot in memory, yet gleefully accepted by the three winners. J-Lai and Norm Chan vault into the top two leaderboard positions with their first and third place results, while Quincy Ko makes his first ITM finish (as runner up) in just his third-ever MDPL showing (mounting the huge comeback from his final blind too). Last event winner Walt Woo is unable to pull off the super-rare repeat feat, falling to J-Lau who happily collects the $10 bounty while season rookie Jon Brietkopt makes his mid-pack debut hanging onto his dwindling chips right to the bitter end. Meanwhile, past event winner Steve Bridge flamed out in last place for the second time since his last victory (but who's counting? Heh). Thank you for your food and drink contributions tonight and of course that red wine is always appreciated! Summer is winding down on us so hope to see you at our next (and perhaps last?) event of the season.
