Time for Battle!

Summer has concluded and so has season eight of the MDPL. A handful of players were battling for the overall season title, so fittingly, it was bring-your-weapon night, with butterfly knives, nunchakus, staffs and shuriken stars on display, but also complimented with less than intimidating utility knives and umbrellas. Nonetheless, the host went into the match hanging onto the season lead by his fingernails but doing himself no favours flaming out in dead last (and becoming a hapless spectator with scotch in hand). Quincy grabbed some early momentum taking both late fee cash pots and the $10 bounty in the process while the rest of the warriors battled it out with huge chip swings throughout. Frank debuts on the leaderboard with a third place finish spiking pocket rockets on at least 2 occasions to help his cause, while Steve Bridge breaks his dubious caboose streak with a solid runner-up finish as the last member standing to take the overall title, but it was Dharmesh, playing the self-proclaimed role of spoiler, snatching victory with some big kahoona calls along the way. So the final standings are in and Jason manages to hang on to the title (but being present for every event helps matters too) and is presented with the storied cup from Mad Dogs co-GM Frank...
Apart from the usual appreciation to attendees for food and drink contributions (especially those yummy red blends and cabsavs!), a special shout out to those members that have selflessly stepped up to help run (each) evening... all season long. Assistance with chip-ups, cash/stack counting, play rulings, setup, cleanup and the like have certainly helped your host (try to) focus on playing and socializing (and drinking haha) instead of being preoccupied with the rest of the logistics. Mad props to you as you have certainly contributed to the longevity of the series to-date. See you all in the fall.
