It was all staches on deck Saturday night for a special (and unofficial) Movember poker night. The MDPL raised $160 for the cause which will help the Signet Styling Stachers get to their $2000 fundraising goal this year. It was the wild west of all-in moments in the first few rounds with Herb Chan (aka Andrew) pushing all-in within minutes (even without a toonie on the line) and then a few more times to contribute to boosting the pot to a sizable level AND the number of chips in play. After the break, the real game started and cagey vet Lackey Condilenios struck it rich with a set of 10s to oust host J-Lai with his not-so-lucky ladies. There was plenty of movement of show-em chips tonight as many players flamed out without using them. With 5 players left and Lackey on the drip, the host reminded him to turn it up and do something with *his* chips which must have inspired him as he ended up ITM for 3rd place. It was Mike Kuramoto and Ian Chang battling it out for top spot and $180 PLUS a $50 Global Group gift card. In the end, Mike won with some great plays and disciplined folds. For being the maid of honor, Ian took home a $25 gift card to The Flower Factory and special congrats to Lynn Wilcott, who also won an identical $25 gift card from our first break door prize draw.
As the co-host, it was great to see everyone out in such short notice to support a worthy cause that I've supported for 9 years and raised over $7500 in the process. Thanks to all for bringing snacks and bevvies for the night and I hope you enjoyed the hot dogs! Hot dog Dass out! - D.
