Number 99 on the event list was a Christmas affair, with ten not-so-secret-Santa bounty gifts on the line and a few holiday hats and show-em chips in play too. The night seemed rocky from the start with technical difficulties requiring a backup laptop to run the game, followed up with spilled drinks but yet with minimal alcohol consumed by eveyone overall. Go figure. An odd evening but a fun one too as the holiday gift bounty sure added a festive angle to the elimination plays, but only two poker sharks enjoyed the spoils, as Vince Fung and Dharmesh Dass cleaned house, with the latter slaying the competition taking down top spot with a whopping 7 bounty gifts en route. The oddities continued as mighty cowboys and rockets could not hold up all night long but a fated 99 hand did bode well for host J-Lai, who won with it as his tiny beacon of light, limping all the way into a surprising runner-up finish... stumbling into the fastest (and most anti-climatic) heads-up showdown ever, taking all of about 3 hands to get destroyed. Meanwhlie, Raymond Chiang rounds out the ITM group with some crafty play and outlasting the rest of the pack where it was practically a crap shoot after the East side of the table was dominating the West side for the first hour or so. All and all a good evening with $150 raised toward the Mad Dogs Angels Fund, thanks to a collective $50 donation from the group, along with an uber generous (and spontaenous) gesture from newly crowned champ Dharmesh, directing $100 of his winning proceeds (and two gifts) to this cause too... a truly stellar move on his part.
