Team WHITE 3 vs. Team DARK 1 Friday, March 15, 2019
Team White put the capper on a storybook finish with three straight victories to seal the series in the rubber match for all the marbles (or in our case, the infamous MDHL Cup)... an unprecendented lead up as separated locker rooms were put into effect for the first time in memory and the strategic plans seemed to work, more so for Team Dark as they held serve to a 0-0 deadlock for the first 20+ minutes... but it was not to be, as they had roster issues, missing one Jeff in the opening stanza, and missing another Jeff (their super sub) in the later stanza (no thanks to a pesky groin injury), leaving their disconnected bench trying to rally. Meanwhile a key 3-minute stretch was all it took for Team White to make their mark and jump into a 3-0 stranglehold for most of the game, thanks in part to their super line of Alves-Naidu-Riccardi, making great plays and looking dangerous all night. A lone marker reply by Team Dark gave a little hope but not enough as the seconds ticked down to the delight of Frank, Carlos and their team.
A hollow post-game shootout victory (2-1) went in favour of Team Dark, but it was little solace for them in the aftermath of their hard-fought game. All players then set their attention to the MDHL traditional season-ending meal... this time changing things up and going old-school with a chinese food feast at On Lok Restaurant where no one went home hungry and closed down the place at 2AM. Hope everyone enjoys their off-season and see you in the fall if not sooner!
