Team Dark 9 vs. Team White 7 Friday, November 21, 2003
And yet another close game but yet another loss for Team White... sounding like a broken record these reviews are... but really, it *was* another great tilt, this time with designated captain Travis Wong leading his team with a stellar performance which clearly lifted the play of his teammates, notably one sub Johnathan Low, filling in for the second missed game by regular captain, Anthony Chang... down 0-4 in the early going, Team White managed to rally back to 5-5, no doubt sparked by the glamourous moves and dekes of Gon Yip, trying hard to shed his image as a garbage-goal goon... and with sweaty palms on both ends, there was nothing to fear (for Team Dark) as Allen Leung leads the way with four tallies and having a loosely anchored goal on their end easily dislodging to break up a few inopportune plays.
There was also more bad karma for Team White as Dave Cheung appeared to have netted his first goal of the season, only to have the (now infamous phantom) goal negated due to inconclusive evidence (at that particular moment)... and having Team Dark come back and score in the next moments didn't help matters either... each team logged a minor penalty with Team White's Brian Kindrachuk expressing some emotion not seen since the days of the Jackson Chiu brawls... in any event, it was Team Dark prevailing behind goalie Kenny Takeda and his super shiny, super large set of goalie pads! No doubt the critics will be calling for illegal equipment measurements in the near future...
MDHL 3 Stars:
3. Travis Wong... losing outcome but clearly turned his game up a few notches this evening.
2. Allen Leung... four goals and also challenges the unofficial goal scoring leaderboard.
1. Ken Takeda (and his pads)... forget the goal posts, those pads are clearly his best friend. |
