Team Ron 17 vs. Team Anthony 15 Friday, December 12, 2003
A game for the offensive lovers of the MDHL... a total of 32 goals with end to end action all night long... Team Ron prevails for the win with a good scare after blowing a 9-2 lead and having Team Anthony roar back to tie it at 11 a piece... two rookies make their MDHL debut on this night with Will Jang (getting stoned on a glorious breakway chance) and Justin Fleet (getting his first-goal on a sweet setup from his buddy Allen Leung)... Assistant Captain Lawrence Lau returns to the lineup for only his second game of the season after making the fine choice to play hookey from work (like a true MDHLer should)... Team Ron was powered by the rejuvenation of LW Sean Oye playing like the dominant warrior back in the glory days of domination and making his linemates better in the process... while on the other side, potent weapons were also in place with a newly formed line of Chang-Arch-Chang sporting the twin brothers on the same line in a rare appearance and doing much of the damage on the score sheet... but just as the recent games have seen, Travis Wong continues his torrid play with more big league moves and hard drives to the net to power Team Anthony's alternate forward line...
With four subs in the lineup (all them Christmas parties to attend I guess) it was still a bang-up, back-and-forth game up to the final nail biting minutes in this penalty-free game... MDHL-alumni sub G Mike Smith gets the win in a rare appearance (but still in fine form) while G Ken Takeda takes his first loss with his new pads and likely would like a few of those "near or behind the goal line" goals back since they likely banked in off those pads to begin with!
MDHL 3 Stars:
3. Travis Wong... another solid performance, what is this guy eating in the pre-game??
2. Mike Smith... gets the win in a rare sub appearance and shows no signs of rust.
1. Sean Oye... the dominant player we all knew of returned on this night. |
