Team Anthony 26 vs. Team Ron 10 Friday, December 19, 2003
Blowout! Whatta way to ring out the year as Team Anthony storm to one of the most lopsided games in recent MDHL history... 'Twas not the night to be for Team Ron as they fielded rookie sub goalie Mike Nishi back from a four-year hiatus along with the news of Sean Oye's no-show (especially after his return to dominant form the week previous)... tack on a series high five subs in the lineup and it made for a game unlike any other... bing bang boom, swarming Team Ron with goals from every direction in the early going, Team Anthony rang up the 13-3 score with the MDHL scoring/goalie rule then kicking in... didn't help though, as Team Ron couldn't get it in gear (and goalie Norm Chan then took the brunt of the rubber shootout) and the score just got worse from there... offensive killers on Team Anthony were the usual suspects, Chris Archibald, Anthony Chang, Kenny Chiu and the series-rejuvenated Travis Wong... all overshadowing a five-goal game by Jason Lai in a losing cause...
In other notes, UK import Jeff Yu makes a fine re-appearance scoring on his first shift and showing some decent moves of yesteryear... in retrospect, this drubbing brings new light to Team Anthony's chances (and overall morale) in tying the series riding high on their momentum... and 'til 2004 when this saga continues, the MDHL wishes all players, subs and fans a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
MDHL 3 Stars:
3. Chris Archibald... size, reach, and power, a killer combination.
2. Brian Kindrachuk... stellar defense didn't give Team Ron much to work with all night long.
1. Travis Wong... still on a MVP-like tear this series. |
