2004 WINTER SERIES: GAME #2 REVIEW

Team Jagr (White) 14 vs. Team Carter (Black) 4
Friday, January 30, 2004

Blood is not thicker than water (or shall I say 'ice') as the MDHL showcases the first ever four-sets of brotherly love in one game... no less than five subs in the lineup including rookie newcomers Chris Stampvincent, Aaron Oye, along with familiar faces Albert/Anthony Chang and Raymond Chan all join the sibling rivalry with and against each other on this wacky night... no Primeau vs. Primeau slugfests to report but it was a high tempo game all night long... young rookie Oye makes like his big bro and debuts with a goal, but the Stampvincent sibling couldn't convert on his chances and probably wished he were still on the rollerblades...

The best hit of the evening (if not the entire history of the MDHL) was between team mates no less as Gon Yip makes short work of Jason Lai as the crushing blow silenced everyone within earshot... both players were fine but wishing they had more protection at that particular moment... and not a good sign for Team Carter as it was downhill from there... never having a lead and only being mildly in the game down 5-3 with the lead slipping away... Team Carter captain Ron Pong missed out while Sean Oye makes his first appearance this series in a losing cause... alumni member Samson Chow makes a sub appearance in net appearing all but unstoppable against the relatively few shots he faced... while in front of him, Team Jagr captain Allen Leung made more magic with his buddy (sub) Shane Greig and scoring on unprobable one-handed connections on lobbed-out-of-the-air pucks...

So Team Jagr is rolling while Team Carter are still looking for that elusive first win of the series... look for some new spark as regular member Brian Kindrachuk joins the fun for his first game of the series after two weeks in Florida...

MDHL 3 Stars:

3. Gordon Chan... just a paltry -2 defensively on 14 goals against... stellar!
2. Samson Chow... solid when he had to be and gets the win.
1. Allen Leung... leading his team to victory and having a good time doing it.
