Team Carter 13 vs. Team Jagr 12 Friday, March 5, 2004
Hoo-ah! Another classic (and close) matchup in the latter part of this series goes in the books as a coulda-gone-either-way squeaker... concludes with Team Carter on a mini-roll and another victory to capture the series lead... Anthony Chang scores a last-second (or so it seemed) game winner for his second GWG of the series... That dinger pulling the rug out from under Team Jagr's valiant counter-punches all night long underscored by Fraser Stampvincent's gritty last-minute effort... He scored with only a few minutes left on the clock and gave his team a huge lift with anticipation of yet another OT game...
Subs were still in the mix as Team Jagr's assistant captain Chris Archibald remains on the IR paving the way for Justin Fleet to get back into the lineup along with brotherly connections on the other side, namely Sean and Aaron Oye along with Ray and Gord Chan... In any event it was a great effort at both end although Team Jagr started out slower battling back from an early deficit but kept the score close all the way through... Line juggling by Team Carter, with the most vocal coach, Anthony Chang, a non-captain (getting carried away in the action or his ego, take your pick) either sealing the win or keeping it needlessly close, only the hockey gods know! Look for another action packed tilt next week!
MDHL 3 Stars:
3. Fraser Stampvincent... Back to action after missing last few games and shows up big.
2. Ken Takeda... Lost the goalie dual but stood on his head and impressed the fans.
1. Anthony Chang... Who made him coach??? I suppose the GWG makes up for it... |
