It was our third consecutive weekend of MDPL virtual action, and on a long weekend during a global pandemic no less. Fortunately (for me), these matches are getting smoother as we go, with less setup and logistical hassle to contend with. It was another maxed out 2-table affair with all 18 of us (eventually) getting in on the group MS Teams video conference, making it a tad more social while we our self-isolate in our respective caves. There was smoking, drinking, and even the odd girly pic (thanks SB), while sharing polite dude banter as we whittled and hacked away on each other for a few hours of fun.
The evening also welcomed newcomers, (Rookie) Walter Works and (Pirate) Jon Shih into the mix who both played well and cracked the top ten. There was also one overzealous interloper (who shall remain unnamed) that managed to crash our event and inject $3K of contraband chips into a table but the snipers shall be out in full force for future events.
Naturally, the most fun went to our four ITM finalists, including Toronto Jeff Yu getting a bit more rest with the earlier start time and making his second consecutive ITM finish in as many weeks and padding his stellar personal winning percentage too (as was the case for local boy, Warren Cheng coming in forth to recoup his buy-in). Meanwhile, Professor Simon Wong prevailed in the heads-up showdown to take the crown and made huge strides on the leaderboard too, but it was runner-up Dharmesh Dass who made the magical leap to sit atop the series standings with his solid second place finish.
There you have it... but when the entire match finishes for everyone well before midnight PST and with no losers lounge set up, I guess it just leaves time for more helpings of quarantine dinner... nonetheless, thanks to all for playing and catch you next time.
