And party on we did, just without those pop icons, Wayne and Garth (and also Marky Mark Yu, who missed the event start unfortunately), but this particular Zoom group had some lively banter with a league record GOOD LUCK well-wishes tonight as there seemed to be a party mood in the air. Sadly, all that luck did not rub off on our first-out of the evening, Stan Not-The-Man Quan, who was so down on his luck he could not even afford the play money re-buys (despite some well-intentioned members trying to gift him some on the side). I guess Netflix and booze shall be his consolation while the rest of us played to see if the tight leaderboard would shake up.
Early on, it was eventual runner-up Vincent Fung, doing most of the shaking with a monster chipstack lead and taking the past-winner bounty from Lynn Wilcott despite a few others having their crack at it. Newcomer to the online circuit, Christian Halim fared well finishing in the bubble position while Original Ray Chiang finished third and with his $35 award, he improves vastly on his lonely $5 earnings to-date (and leapfrogs cousin J-Lau in the process).
Meanwhile, season leader Dharmesh Dass and his respectable 4th place finish could not keep him atop the standings but gets honourable mention for his unsolicited colour commentary in the late stages. Our event winner and new season leader, Quincy Ko, powered by his signature dark background, takes it all down and now has a real (but barely visible) bullseye on him for our next event. Good times, gents!
