Covid restrictions did not keep everyone stapled to the sofa tonight, as the last game of the year yielded just twelve merry members into action, but also made for a more focussed evening too. The theme was festive (as it should be) as players came (mostly) adorned with X-mas gear and Zoom backgrounds, along with extra hoilday animations on the tables too. Ray Chiang was our pre-game holiday winner with a free re-buy and he used that and then some too. Less players also meant more time to bust out and open up a gambling degenerate losers lounge game too (with a sky-high unofficial $2.50 buy-in) which made for more casual fun for the rest of us.
Your hapless host gets the first-out honours tonight while running up his overall tab in the process, but a modest 3rd place losers lounge showing shall be his glimmer of hope heading into the new year. Meanwhile, those cagey veterans battled on the main table (and a few doing double duty in the LL game too), but that defending champ from last time, Gerard Tang, quietly ground it out and defended his bounty all the way to his second consecutive win, while runner-up Vince Fung takes the bridesmaid position... in both games of the night too (while Markus Yu found redemption as the LL winner)!
As we end the year with yet another soically distanced, online poker match, we can reflect back on the games of yesteryear when we actually met in person and mixed it up. Perhaps it will be sooner (or later?) when we can reunite for that again, but until then, the MDPL thanks you for your online participation and we wish everyone a safe and peaceful holiday season. See you in the new year!
