Summer Ending Golf... a bit bigger and a bit better too.

Annual Mad Dogs Golf Tourney was held at Swan-e-set Links with three groups in the fold and a bit more fanfare and prep than last time. The morning started off with pre-round range time followed by a putting contest (based on 3 putts to targets for lowest aggregate distances). Lots of great and not so great putting on display, and it finished with a razor thin victory for Jack Wong edging out Walter Works by a paltry half inch. Every inch counts, so says that wise Coach Steve Beemish.

Onto the so called main event, where three groups headed into battle on the Links course, and what a battle it was as nearly every player struggled with tight fairways, nerves, or the golf gods just not smiling on them today (but at least the weather held up nicely for cooler temps than the burning hot weeks prior). Camaradarie and casual (crappy) play definitely took the stage over low scores today. Gabe Chui and Jason Lai managed to hang on for single KP honours, while that newly dubbed ringer Jack Wong stole the show taking the final KP and also finding the fairway to edge out Hubert Lam for the LD title too. All that practice sure paid off for him as he nets a whopping $72 for his troubles.
Most of us made it to the post-round dinner nearby for some food, victory presentations and social time to recount our crappy shots and lost balls. The raffle prize draw saw Walter Works collecting a pair of Canucks tickets (courtesy of HUB International) as well as the boobie prize going to Gabe Chui making him a double-winner of sorts. All and all, a long day but a fun day. Hope to see you all next year, same time (last Saturday in August) but different place TBD.
