2005 SPRING SERIES: GAME #9 REVIEW

Team Beast 9 vs. Team Feast 7
Friday, June 10, 2005

In a game where the series victor was already decided last week, MDHL pride was still on the line and both teams still played with intensity... though not much else, as perhaps the dinner buffet from year-end party was still weighing heavily on the players... both teams struggled to find their groove and play was loosy-goosey all night long... super sub Nixon Tham was still sharp and helped pace his team while both groups juggled player positions... Captain Ron Pong made a rare appearance at LW but was a non-factor in the game, while Stan Quan made a brief appearance at center ice but moved back to D soon thereafter... Lawrence Lau finally made it back to the ice in a solid D outing (since the only points he's been racking up have been those of the PDP nature!)... Derek Lowe continues his night of fire after winning the league's poker tourney just a few hours earlier, goes on to lead his team with 3+ goals from the rearguard position... teaming up with Travis Wong who barrelled down the wing on hapless defenders many a time on this night...Calvin Cheng and Tommy Wong each score goals to extend their streak to two games after slow starts earlier in the series while rookie Dennis Chan (despite his scoring streak stopped last game) rings up another goal on a great second effort in the slot... all and all, Team Beast were the better team tonight and held onto the win in an otherwise close game all night long...

MDHL STARS OF THE GAME

Young gun was the spark plug for his team tonight.
  Calvin Cheng
Sweet goal from the slot to double his season output and start a streak of his own.

Got the nod from Captain Ron and turned in a solid effort for the win.
  Derek Lowe
Fresh off the poker victory and the best player on his side in a losing cause.
