2005/06 FALL SERIES: GAME #1 REVIEW

Team Murder Inc. 14 vs. Team G-Unit 10
Friday, September 23, 2005

Enter a new season and a new age of the MDHL... no red line, 13 skaters aside and two hour time slot... adjustments were in store for everyone, but some things don't change... good pace and high octane offense from the usual suspects, namely Anthony Chang and the Oye brothers on their respective teams... other fine debuts came from rookies Colin Lee and Dave Wong (who, with lil bro Simon add yet another sibling tandem to the mix)... while new and alumni subs filled out the roster including Minger Cheung, Kyle Uno, Steve Brown and Dom Kwong... Team Dark controlled most of the night with multiple scoring lines while Team White managed to keep it interesting coming back from 7-2 deficit to pull within a goal... but a bad stretch late in the game led to a bushelful of dingers for Team Dark and they ended up cementing the win... other highlights included a fine deflection goal by Jason Chu as well a sweet backhand deke by Dr. Calvin Cheng to start off a goal streak (versus his drought from last year)... both goalies played well, notably with Norm Chan getting the win thanks in part to a few stellar poke check plays.

MDHL STARS OF THE GAME

Not as flashy as his big bro, but always an effective finisher.
  Anthony Chang
Playing center ice? Well, as long as he produces offense and tonight was no different.
  Lawrence Lau
Spark plug effort for the losing side, but brought energy and a pair of goals with him.
