2005/06 FALL SERIES: GAME #9 REVIEW

Team G-Unit 13 vs. Team Murder Inc. 6
Friday, December 2, 2005

A rare win, but a convincing one at that as the desperate G-Unit finally taste victory again... too bad it's a case of too-little-too-late as the series was already decided in the last game and there was nothing but pride left to play for... and thus Murder Inc. decides to field a Bizarro lineup tonight keeping their snipers on D and their blueliners at forward... couple that with Travis Wong donning the pads to play for game day scratch Norm Chan who woke up with a sore back... however Travis' much anticipated female skater replacement managed to pull a no-show on the team... whatever the case, the talent was still on their side to make a contest... fortunately for G-Unit, they also had the luck of the sub draw, bringing stellar members Fern Chow, Jay Lee and Kevin Ma on their side this time around... the game was close in the early stages with low scoring and within a goal at the midway mark but after the ice cleaning, Murder Inc. couldn't answer two quick goals against and saw the game slip away... G-Unit were led offensively by their current captain Sean Oye who makes Ron Pong and his scant few appearances just a distant memory on this night... in other plays, Derek Lowe pulls a near Stan-Quan-like play, hitting the ice by his own action with nothing but ice all around... and skated off on his own to tell about it... meanwhile Jason Lai gets away with (yet another?) hooking attempt (aka water skiing) on the other team's best player but draws the ire of his teammates to the rescue and promptly chop him down to size... look to the captains to crack down on these old school clutch-n-grab tactics against the other team's superstars... Fern Chow makes bad on his two goal guarantee from the blueline, instead proclaiming a "1 1/2 goal" night, whatever that means... and so the final game of the series and calender year is on tap next week and who know if the sub record will fall once again with so many new bodies and faces in the mix.

MDHL STARS OF THE GAME
  Travis Wong
Much to the chagrin of his team, Travis takes one for the league and suits up in goal on short notice.
  Sean Oye
Assistant-turned-captain turns it up a few notches to the tune of four goals in a win.
  Albert Chang
Solid effort and skated miles tonight at center.
  Vincent Kwok
Showed more flash in his sophomore debut with more left in his tank for the future no doubt.
