Team Murder Inc. 16 vs. Team G-Unit 8 Friday, December 9, 2005
And so the final game of the calendar year (and series) rings out with a relative whimper... nothing shocking for this series... another blowout, and the underdog team takes another in the teeth... while the much-appreciated second appearance of Travis Wong in goal helped our league... being on the wrong end of an offensive onslaught didn't help the game... as well as an oversight by captains and GMs alike that failed to consider the "goalie swap option" rule for underdog teams... whatever the case, the rout was on and with extra chirping from the losing bench too (a passionate bunch they are)... if not for the losing skid overall, or the progress of this particular game, then for a heated "welcoming" to newbie sub Lonny Wong and a crash course in the ABCs of proper line changes... otherwise, the lone bright light on Team G-Unit was Gord Chan finding the net twice to get a sniff (but not quite) at a first-ever career hat-trick... super-sub Kevin Ma shows up again for the champs and delivers more flash and dash... along with usual snipers Aaron Oye and Anthony Chang, it wasn't much of an effort other than fishing the puck of of the net so many times... Murder Inc. were called for the game's only penalty... a too-many-men call but G-Unit failed to capitalize and gave up a short-handed goal instead... somewhat fitting as that's been their luck in this series... look for a new roster next year and (hopefully) a more competitive result too... happy holidays to all and see you in the new year.
