Team 66 (Dark) 15 vs. Team 99 (White) 9 Friday, January 6, 2006
Happy New Year! Everyone's back full of turkey and a few extra pounds no doubt... new teams and new leaders as Anthony Chang and Derek Lowe lead Team White, while Jason Lai and Sean Oye lead Team Dark after all the votes are counted... a rare gaffe of the MDHL sub system pits an extra player on the White bench (but later taken by Team Dark in place of a missing no-show by ill Jackson Chiu)... blueliner Rich Chang rings in the first goal of the year with a sweet individual rush... while Calvin Cheng also starts the year out right with a hat trick effort... not to be outdone, Anthony Chang carries his team with a five goal effort in a losing cause... Allen Leung sports his new Ovechkin-like visor and pops some offense with celebration to boot... chances galore on both sides but goalies were equal to the task... however, G Shelby Lui was slow to get up from a mid-game collision, possibly affecting his play while letting more than a few screen shots squeak by tonight... rarely seen alumni Felix Lum makes a rare appearance for regular Ron Pong out in the first game already and the league's most missing man from last series... while another alumni sub Kyle Uno makes also makes a rare appearance (splitting duty for both sides) and impresses onlookers with some sweet head man passing... Team Dark takes the only two penalties of the game, while the league enters the era of the 3-minute penalty... but manage to hold to a confident lead throughout and notch the first win.
