2006 SPRING SERIES: GAME #1 REVIEW

Team Magnum 8 vs. Team Biretta 11
Friday, April 7, 2006

First game of the spring series and the MDHL reverts back to 10 aside with a 1.5 hour slot... add the RIC sized rink and some rookies in the fold and it's like the first day of pee-wee all over again... not too many fluid plays or intense flow, but Team WHITE does manage to hold onto the victory after building up a healthy lead... thanks in part to usual MVP turned sub, Sean Oye pacing the play... rookie Peter Liu makes his debut with a goal and the game's only penalty, whereas other rookies Toli Sidiropoulos and Robert Watson fit in nicely with their new linemates as well... an almost-turning-point may have been when an ill timed player change resulted in a quick goal thanks to Nixon Tham's quick feed but it was not to be as time ran out after a late charge from Team DARK after the official time finished... both teams played a man short for the duration and adapted well under newly elected captains, Albert Chang and Travis Wong for Team WHITE and Jason Lai and Lawrence Lau for Team DARK...

MDHL STARS OF THE GAME
  Sean Oye
Open ice makes Sean even more potent than usual.
  Lonny Wong
Hardest working player on either side tonight.
  Travis Wong
Also taking advantage of the open ice and pacing his team to victory.
