Team BLUEHORSE SHOE 7 vs. Team PUDDIN POPS 2 Friday, June 6, 2008
And so the season wraps up with a triple header event starting with dinner/beer followed by the 2nd ever MDHL NL Poker Tourney... then concluding with game #10... dinner was a glutton-fest with too much pizza, natchos and fries, but no one left hungry and the Sleemans pitchers just kept re-appearing... the poker tourney saw some crafty play with poker newbies and veterans mixing it up... the usual bad beats and come-from-behind victories were common, but it was Norm Chan, Ray Yee and Jason Lai outlasting the competition to take home the cash prizes... special thanks to Peter Choi and his multiple re-buys to sweeten the prize pot… and also to Dave Wong serving out the tourney as the resident dealer... too bad it turned into speed poker at the final stages to make way for the ice time… so the party members don their gear downstairs tanked up full of food and alcohol… great way to kickoff a game... the actual match itself was almost anti-climatic with the series outcome iced in the most lopsided series in league history… partially due to a major no-show as of late by hard-at-work blue chip player Travis Wong, but ultimately it was speed and rolling lines all series long by Team Bluehorse Shoe that kept the victory bandwagon intact… all four team captains were honoured in the pre-game with gratuity gift certificates for fulfilling their leadership roles in fine fashion… and the game rolled off with Gord Chan playing in front of wife and child (and handycam) to start the next generation of hockey fans… hope everyone enjoyed the season and have a fantastic summer… see you all in the fall (or earlier)!
