Eastern Conference 11 vs. Western Conference 3 East claims victory in a rout… Friday, December 13, 2002
With the series winner already claimed by the West, this game boiled down to pride and payback with the East laying down a convincing drubbing on their opposition. While it was not quite the mass showdown of sub superstars from last game, there were still a few competent sub snipers back on the rosters featuring the second return of Jeff "still skilled, sharper skates, but kinda tired tonight" Ohashi in as many weeks for the East and the drop-in debut of Tom "I brought these flashy moves with me from Calgary" Jong for the West, who clicked with some magic skating with Sean "lovin my time on the forward lines this season" Oye.
With the East fielding only nine skaters, thanks to AWOL Jackson "gee, will anyone notice if I'm missing?" Chiu, they still managed to take it to 'em, riding on the offense of East captain Anthony "five goals on Smokey is a rarity for me" Chang, who received an uncharisteristic (and rather non-traditional) shot to the head in the post-game handshake from West goalie Mike "like my new way of congratulating the victors?" Smith.
The East still generated lots of good chances, mostly with the Oye/Jong combination, but nearly everything (including the kitchen sink) was turned aside. East G sub replacement G Sherman "the ultimate Shermanator" Chan played solid in the win (but what else would you expect for a 3-5 game a week goaltending addict?).
Alas, the puck luck was not in the West's favour, just ask D Lawrence "love those sweet drop passes 'cept for the fact that I keep fumbling them at the blueline!" Lau. And so the last game of the current series is on tap, which will conclude MDHL hockey for 2002. Stay tuned!
MDHL 3 Stars:
3. Tom Jong... good player, great skills, clean play... MDHL quality no doubt.
2. Sherman Chan... the Asian Sherman Tank of hockey, has yet to post a L in the MDHL.
1. Anthony Chang... individually contributed nearly half of his team's offense. |
