Team TSUNAMI 8 vs. Team HURRICANE 5 Friday, November 21, 2008
Oh the anticipation in the air before the game with a possible shootout looming, and the teams did not disappoint... though Team Tsunami controlled the game (just like last week) with pretty plays, tap-in goals and power-play like pressure, there was no miraculous comeback (or collapse) on this night... captains Albert Chang and Sean Oye were rolling as usual, while goalie Peter Johnson (back from an extended DL) was equal to the task backstopping his team to a win and staving off any comeback even when the score got interesting at 8-5... more importantly, the win tied the series and the series deciding shootout was on tap... both goalies were stingy early on, but lousy ice (and nerves?) may have been a factor with a post or two and a few blown attempts (notably on Team Tsunami with snipers Albert Chang and Frank Riccardi coming up snake-eyes) but Dave Wong scored to give his team the early lead... later in the roster Team Hurricane replied with Terry Wong and Ray Chan scoring to put the pressure on, and Lawrence Lau added the nail in the coffin as Sean Oye whiffed his attempt (shockingly) and Team Tsunami ran out of shooters to make up the 2-goal deficit... and so Team Hurricane clinch the series in one of the most memorable (if not enjoyable) series to-date... see you all next week with new teams on tap!
