Team IR 9 vs. Team Rub Out 9 Friday, December 3, 2010
What a game, what series, what a season to-date... a fun and intense game to ring out the calendar year and move into the holidays... Team IR looked to play some desperate hockey and keep the dream alive with a win to force the series deciding shootout, but alas, they iced their full 10-man lineup whereas the opposition had a nudge of help with a sub advantage in their favour... nonetheless, Team IR stepped it up a notch with hard work and built leads of 3-0 and 8-5 with Team IR trying to rally... and rally they did as a short-handed breakaway goal and a once-in-a-lifetime off-the-roof fluke goal were both key to their comeback... eventually tying it up and forcing sudden-death OT, only to play to a stalemate (amidst a PP too) and both teams killed off the allotted shootout-reserved time... making for a great (and tiring) 85 minute battle... and with the tie, Team RubOut secure the series victory in what will be remembered as one of the closest and most intense series of recent memory... kudos to our rookie captains Orson Low and Ravi Naidu for leading their teams all series long, and on behalf of the GMs, we wish you all a safe and happy holidays. See you all in the new year (or sooner).
