Team MATRIX 7 vs. Team NEO 2 Friday, February 25, 2011
Both teams were missing a key player tonight. Team Neo lost Jason Lai to a nagging back injury and Team Matrix were without their all-star defenseman Orson Low. The absense of both players had a major impact on the final result.
Without Jason, Team Neo could not find the energy needed to keep up with their opposition. The few chances that Team Neo had were taken away by another solid game by goalie Peter Johnson. In fact the only goals that went by him were a redirection off a skate and a well placed slap shot by Gord Chan who happened to be on his own team.
That was the only minor blemish that Gord Chan and his fellow defenders showed tonight. They knew that without Orson they each had to step it up for Team Matrix to have any chance of winning. Not only did Kyle, Norm, Ray Yee and Gord step it up they completely shut down any attack that Team Neo could muster. It was a fine display of discipline, positioning and doing the little things right. Thanks to the defensemen of Team Matrix the series is back to even at four wins a piece.
MDHL STARS OF THE GAME |
---|
| | Gordon Chan A two way defender who was flying up and down the ice all night. He helped shut the door on the Team Neo attack and he contributed offensively with odd man rushes which led to some key assists. | | | Ray Yee Played the perfect game. His pin point passing was a valuable asset to the Team Matrix breakout and his stingy defensive play helped to frustrate Team Neo. | | | Norman Chan A leader by example. He was consistently the first defender back to help keep Sean at bay and his deadly shots from the point always created goal scoring opportunities. | View the lifetime game star tally.
