The MDHL strives for team parity in each series to keep the games fun, close, and entertaining. Here are some guidelines we consider when setting up the initial team rosters:

  • (Near) equal "natural" defensemen per side.
  • Overall skill distribution based on the MDHL player (star) ratings; including separation of blue-chip (5-star) players.
  • Differentiation of players per side, based on the previous series just-finished.

On some occasions, previous team captains or volunteers have accepted the task of creating teams for the league, but in any event, the GMs must approve all final rosters in advance of play.
